Percussion-based rhythmic entrainment and alignment, also known as, Therapeutic drumming. Therapeutic drumming is fun and engaging for all ages, irrespective of musical talent or history of taking music lessons. The goal of this program is to help the client regain focus, self-esteem, and confidence through the concept of rhythmic alignment.
The program includes evidence-based activities, games, and techniques to help with neural efficiency and synchronous brain activity. Among the many benefits of DRUMinSYNC are the improvements in cognitive behaviors, stress relief, mood enhancement, self-awareness, and self-esteem. The program is particularly successful in helping children break negative thought patterns through distraction and positive thought reinforcement.
Clients struggling with the following benefit most from the program:
Sensory Processing Disorder
Autism Spectrum Disorders
Aides used in the program include uniquely designed drumsticks called theraTubes. These specifically tuned and designed, 16-inch drum-tubes, made from polycarbonate plastic, are the perfect weight and thickness to allow for the distinct rhythms and tones needed for the exercises.
The cognitive and behavioral benefits of clients using therapeutic drumming have been well published in educational journals and peer-reviewed research. Research projects are currently underway focusing on theraTubes and the DRUMinSYNC program, measuring their effectiveness in relieving a wide variety of maladaptive behaviors and emotional struggles.
